Professor Zara Anishanslin will deliver her lecture “Portrait of a Woman in Silk - Hidden Histories in the British Atlantic World” at the Art Institute of Chicago on September 20, 2018. This lecture is in connection to Anishanslin’s book of the same title (Yale University Press, 2016). “Portrait of a Woman in Silk” examines a network of individuals who produced, designed, and wore this type this clothing in the 18th century.
