The conference “Coming to Terms? Confronting War and Peace through the Visual and Material in the Atlantic World, 1651-1685” will take place November 8-10 in both Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Winterthur, Delaware. 

Professor Zara Anishanslin, is the Program Committee co-chair for the conference and will chair the opening plenary, and Professor Jennifer Van Horn will be presenting her paper “At War Within the Plantation: Reclaiming Portraits in the Civil War South.” Art History alumna and Curator at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts Anna Marley (Ph.D. 2009) will lead a discussion with Professor in the Winterthur Program in American Material Culture, Catharine Dann Roeber
