On March 5, Associate Professor Mónica Domínguez Torres will speak at the screening of the documentary film, “To Be a Miss.” The film focuses on the inner workings of a Miss Venezuela beauty pageant while touching on ideas of nationalism, personal ambition, and the influence of mass media on women in the country.

The screening of “To Be Miss” is part of the “Women’s History, Women’s Lives” film series. In it’s 32nd year, the series is a inter-departmental collaboration meant to highlight stories of women with varying backgrounds and identities. The films are screened every Monday from February 19 to March 19 from 7pm to 9pm in 206 Kirkbride Hall.
