In his article for Yale's MAVCOR Journal, "Georgia O'Keeffe, Black Cross with Stars and Blue," doctoral candidate Jeffrey Richmond-Moll discusses Georgia O'Keeffe's unique Penitente cross paintings. O'Keeffe was inspired by these crosses while staying with her friend and patron, Mabel Dodge Luhan, in Taos, New Mexico in 1929.
Jeffrey Richmond-Moll is currently the Joshua C. Taylor Predoctoral Fellow at the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, D.C. for the 2017-2018 academic year.
