Doctoral candidate Caitlin Hutchison is this year's graduate student representative for the Philadelphia Museum of Art's Spotlight Gallery Conversation series. Throughout the 2017-2018 academic year, she will be holding several public conversations at the PMA in which she discusses one piece of artwork in depth with her audience. These hour-long discussions will take place once a day for a three-day period, Thursday through Saturday, and will occur on four separate weekends throughout the year.
The series kicks off at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 12 (and continues at 11:00 a.m. on both Friday and Saturday) with
The Crucified Christ with the Virgin Mary, Saint John the Evangelist, and Angels with Instruments of the Passion. In the coming months, Hutchison will address other works in the PMA's collection, including Knight, Death, and the Devil, 1513, by Albrecht Dürer (November 16-18, 11:00 a.m.); Sasanian Portal, mid-6th century CE (February 1-3, 11:00 a.m.); and another work yet to be determined (March 8-10, 11:00 a.m.).
