Professor
Vimalin Rujivacharakul recently published two books:
Architecturalized Asia (2014), and
Liang Sicheng and the Temple of Buddha's Light (2015).
Liang Sicheng and the Temple of Buddha's Light was published under the auspices of China Classics Grant, administered by Ministry of Education, People's Republic of China. In spring 2015, she gave papers and lectures at the annual meetings of AAS, SAH, and the conference on Art and Sovereignty in Chicago. In May of 2015, she presented a paper on Contemporary Architecture and the Work of Ma Qingyun at the University of Cambridge (UK), in honor of Xu Bing, CRASSH Humanitas Visiting Professor at the University of Cambridge. (Her talk can be viewed online, starting at 23:30. Note that during the event, Dr. Rujivacharakul was very ill and temporarily lost her voice. The convener, Professor Hans van de Ven, helped read her paper on her behalf.) Dr. Rujivacharakul also recently published a debate essay in
Architecture Beyond Europe on the writing of global architectural history,
"Connecting the Dots: Global Idea, Local Agency, and the Burden of Evidence-Based Architectural History." She is on sabbatical in 2015-2016.
