Biography
Rachel Allen, a member of the Nez Perce Tribe, is an independent curator and Ph.D. student at the University of Delaware. Allen has worked with several museums, including the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture, Spokane, WA; the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; and the Portland Museum of Art in Maine. Prior, she was an Assistant Curator at the Peabody Essex Museum (PEM) in Salem, Massachusetts, contributing to several major traveling exhibitions with publications, including "T.C. Cannon: At the Edge of America" and "Nature’s Nation: American Art and Environment." Before PEM, she served as Assistant Professor at Michigan State University and Assistant Preparator at the Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum. While there, she co-founded the Emerging Museum Professionals Chapter of Michigan and earned a certificate in Collections Care at the International Preservation Studies Center.
Current Research Projects
Allen’s current project is co-curating Joe Feddersen’s retrospective with accompanying publication, slated to open at the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture in 2024.
