Biography
Tom Price is a third year PhD student studying nineteenth and early-twentieth century American art. He is particularly interested in issues of landscape representation, including the intersection of ecocriticism with historic notions of ecology and images of extraction. Tom received his BA in art history from Drew University in 2015 and his MA from the Williams College Graduate Program in the History of Art in 2017, where his qualifying paper explored the intimate conceptions of wilderness in John F. Kensett’s late paintings. While at Williams, he held a two-year curatorial internship in American art at the Williams College Museum of Art. Prior to starting at UD, he was the Curatorial Assistant in American art at the Hood Museum of Art at Dartmouth College, where he co-curated the multidisciplinary exhibition “This Land: American Engagement with the Natural World,” the museum’s first installation to combine its traditional “American” and Native American art collections.
