The 15th annual Material Culture Symposium for Emerging Scholars begins on Friday, April 27th at 4:30 p.m. in Old College 211 with a keynote address from Dr. Alison Matthews David, an associate professor in the School of Fashion at Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada.

The theme of this year's symposium is "Hazardous Objects: Function, Materiality, and Context," which aims to discuss materials that are hazardous either materially, environmentally, or culturally.

The symposium will continue Saturday, April 28 at Winterthur Museum, Garden ​and Library with a full day of programming, including presentations from Art History students Bridget Killian and Zoe Weldon-Yochim, and an introduction from Professor and Co-Director of the Center for Material Culture Studies Sandy Isenstadt.

The symposium was also co-chaired by graduate students Kiersten Mounce and Victoria Sunnergren.
