Professor Zara Anishanslin, who joins the Departments of Art History and History this fall, has contributed to the blog Historiann. Her very timely post--written since the recent protests in Baton Rouge and the Republican National Convention just last week--examines African American women's voices and bodies in colonial America and today.
Anishanslin's forthcoming book, Portrait of a Woman in Silk: Hidden Histories of the British Atlantic World, will be published by Yale University Press in September.
