Biography
Emily Ann Francisco is a second year Ph.D. student studying American art. Her research focuses on issues of gender, race and class in the history of American sculpture, particularly in relation to public space and the performance of artistic labor. She is also interested in the digital humanities and data-driven art history. In addition to her studies, Emily is curatorial assistant in the Department of Modern and Contemporary Art at the National Gallery of Art, Washington, where she works primarily on permanent collection projects and installations. Prior to her current role, she was the collection management assistant in the NGA's Department of Photographs. Emily has previously held internships at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Musselman Library at Gettysburg College, The Gettysburg Review, the Whistler House Museum of Art, National Gallery of Art, Smithsonian American Art Museum, and the Everson Museum of Art in Syracuse, NY.
