Professor Wendy Bellion will be presenting her talk, “Hanging Shakespeare: Charles Willson Peale and Benjamin West at PAFA in 1807,” as part of the "Continuing Curiosity: The Art of the Peales Symposium" at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Among many other achievements, Charles Willson and his brother James Peale are well-known for painting portraits of American founders. This event is also in conjunction with the PMA's release of the publication, "The Art of the Peales: Adaptations and Innovations." Professor Bellion will be one of five scholars presenting research around the Peale’s legacy on February 17 from 10:30am to 4:30pm.
