Thanks to a research travel grant from the Center for Material Culture Studies, doctoral candidate Hannah Segrave traveled to the international conference Esplorare le arti nella Roma di Bernini at the Bibliotheca Hertziana in Rome this last November where she presented a paper entitled "Salvator Rosa's Saul and the Witch of Endor: Magic, Rivalry, and Fame." Hannah remains in Italy and is studying all things witchy, skeletal, and demonic, as research for her dissertation, Conjuring Genius: Salvator Rosa and the Dark Arts of Witchcraft in Rome, Florence, Pisa, and Milan.
