A recent publication edited by Julie Aronson (Ph.D. 1995), with contributions by Liz Simmons (Ph.D. candidate), has been
named "Outstanding Monograph Catalogue" of the year by the Midwest
Art History Society. Frank Duveneck: American Master is the first major publication on the American artist in over 30 years, featuring diverse
perspectives on Duveneck's life, work, subjects and reputation. Aronson--curator
of American paintings, sculpture and drawings at the Cincinnati Art Museum
(CAM)--considers Duveneck's patronage anew in her essay "A Tale of Two
Cities: Cincinnati, Boston, and Duveneck's Reputation." Simmons, former curatorial
research assistant at CAM, wrote the first essay devoted to Duveneck as a
draftsman, "Discovering Frank Duveneck's Drawings."
